Tar Heels 89, Wake Forest 92: And so it was written, the Team of Destiny would lose their first two conference games, as a trick. Playing without Marcus Ginyard for the second straight game, the Heels played flat and uninspired ball, managing only 35% shooting and 26% from long range. Danny Green did his best to take the team on his back by scoring 22 points and making five steals, but the Demon Deacons’ Jeff Teague played unconscious with 34 points. Both this loss and the BC loss have been against teams that got hot and had one player with a career game, so maybe it’s bad luck, but it’ll be nice to see the Tar Heels win a competitive game, just to know they can. Next up is a game Thursday night in Charlottesville, that’s as close to “must win” as you get in January, because it’s all conference until March.
