  • Boston 106, Bobcats 114 (OT): How bad is the Celtics’ slide? They’ve now lost five of seven, and they just got beat by rookie sensation D.J. Augustin, who scored 11 of his 20 points in overtime. (Boston had 9 in the OT session.) Raymond Felton had 25, and Gerald Wallace added 23, and hell, Handsome Adam Morrison had 13! Can the ‘Cats make this into momentum? Let’s see, next up is LeBron James in Cleveland on Wednesday.
  • New Jersey 2, Hurricanes 3: Carolina opened up a 3-0 lead on goals by Ray Whitney, Tuomo Ruutu, and Sergei Samsonov’s career 200th. But the Devils hustled in the third period, pulling the goalie on a power play with eight minutes remaining and scoring on the 6 on 4 advantage, and scoring again on a 6 on 5 with 22 seconds remaining. Four wins in a row for the ‘Canes, who try to make it five on Thursday at Florida.
  • The new NCAA polls are out, and as expected, the Tar Heels relinquished their top spot to Pitt. But the Blue Devils leapfrogged into the #2 spot, and the Tar Heels are ranked #3. Keeping in mind that these rankings matter not a whit, that’s still totally hilarious — put those two teams on a neutral court, and Carolina would be a nine point favorite.
