The law that created the North Carolina lottery include a provision that said “no advertising may intentionally target specific groups or economic classes.” But the lottery folks sure would like to advertise in Spanish, and the law-talking guys and the law-making guys are trying to figure out if that’s cool with the law. That’s what the N&O wrote about today, and if I stopped reading after the first few lines like a normal person, I’d know what I needed to know. But I stuck around until the end, where I was treated to the final paragraph:
Winners of $600 or more must show proof of a Social Security number to collect.
Oh, because all Spanish-speakers are here illegally? Is that the inference I’m supposed to make, staff writer Benjamin Niolet?
My only question: WTF?
