Dallas 100, Bobcats 83: Oof. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, charged with insider trading, sat courtside and watched his team run up a 15-0 lead in the first quarter. Also in the arena: like, a total of twenty other people. Losing Jason Richardson has hurt badly, and rookie D.J. Augustin’s 21 points was nowhere near enough to make it up. The ‘Cats head down to Atlanta on Friday night, where they will lose to the surprising Hawks.
Montreal 1, Hurricanes 2: Hey, all right! The ‘Canes buried two in three and a half minutes in the third period to come from behind and win one in regulation, for the first time in memory. Sergei Samsonov and Ray Whitney saw the back of the net, and let’s just say they both got the game-winner. Now the question is: with two wins in a row, can we make this into a little momentum? Good news: we’re hosting the middling Phoenix Coyotes on Friday. (Never bet on the Coyotes.)
Kentucky 58, Tar Heels 77: Hey, remember when the Kentucky Wildcats were a storied basketball program, and this matchup this early in the season would be a blockbuster? Yeah, not so much any more. So instead of the game, focus on the nice long shots of Tyler Hansbrough, Marcus Ginyard, Ashley Judd, and John Edwards. Maybe another day, we’ll watch a basketball game. (Deon Thompson led the way with 18 and looked incredible doing it.)
