Yes, we’ve all seen balding folkies strumming acoustic guitars and prattling on about some liberal such-and-such around the Triangle. But the next time you see one, it might be the real James Taylor!

Taylor has scheduled five free concerts in support of Barack Obama in North Carolina, including Monday October 20th in Chapel Hill at Fetzer Field on the UNC campus and Tuesday October 21st in Raleigh at Moore Square. The Carrboro Citizen has all your location, time and ticket distribution information.

Even as Taylor gallivants across the state from West to East, the two men actually running for president have also planned stops in North Carolina this weekend.

John McCain will be in Concord on Saturday, October 18th at the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center. Doors open at 8am and the shindig kicks at 10am. Pick up tickets at a McCain campaign office. And set out your clothes the night before because you never get out of the house on time on Saturday morning.

Barack Obama will be in Fayetteville on Sunday, October 19th at the Crown Colliseum. Doors at 11am, things start poppin’ at 1:30pm. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP. Sunday is of course a day of rest; please check with your religious adviser as to whether chanting “Yes We Can” violates your denomination’s concept of the Sabbath.
